Why Choose Robbins Eye?
“Clearly Ahead of the Curve”
Robbins Eye is regarded as one of the leading eye care centers offering Blade-less LASIK, cataract surgery and Crystalens in the Rochester area. Dr. Allan Robbins has been involved in FDA clinical trials and developmental work for most of the surgical procedures currently accepted as the standard of care. From the YAG laser in the early eighties to wavefront guided custom LASIK at the beginning of the 21st Century, Dr. Robbins has helped advance ophthalmic surgery for improved outcomes and enhanced safety profiles. Our motto “Clearly Ahead of the Curve” defines the innovative technology that Robbins Eye brings to the Rochester and the Upstate New York region.
The most recent example of the leadership role of Robbins Eye is their introduction into the Rochester market of the first “All Laser” LASIK procedure with the Femtosecond laser. Replacing the blade with a laser has been shown to improve outcomes and increase safety. In September of 2007 both NASA and the United States Air Force began to allow astronauts and pilots to undergo LASIK with a Femtosecond flap. Robbins Eye is proud to be the first provider in the area to offer “The Best of the Best”.
Unmatched Surgical Experience
Dr. Allan Robbins is a board certified ophthalmic surgeon with over 3 decades of experience. Many of the surgical innovations such as phacoemulsification, “No-stitch” cataract surgery, PRK, LASIK, Blade-less LASIK and Crystalens were introduced by Dr. Robbins. Although other skilled doctors comprise the team at Robbins Eye, all of the surgery is performed by Dr. Robbins. Unlike other centers where your surgery may not be performed by the principal surgeon, at Robbins Eye you can be assured that Dr. Robbins will personally perform your eye surgery.
Dr. Robbins is also highly experienced Rochester eye surgeon in a variety of procedures from LASIK to Refractive Lens Exchange. Any recommended procedure will be tailored to your individual needs.
On-site Surgery
Many surgical procedures such as LASIK, Advanced Surface Ablation, and CK are performed right in our state of the art facility in Rochester, New York. This allows superior control over such issues as equipment updates, maintenance and scheduling. Key factors such as temperature and humidity levels are constantly monitored, which are imperative for optimal outcomes. Procedures requiring IV sedation are performed at the Rochester Brighton Surgery Center, of which Dr. Robbins is an operating partner.
State-of-the-art Diagnostic Equipment
The latest in lasers is a given at Robbins Eye, but diagnostic equipment is equally as important. Surgical plans for LASIK or Crystalens are highly dependent on accurate measurements pre-operatively. The success of any ophthalmic surgical procedure depends not only on the skill of the surgeon, but the precise gathering of information to determine if you are a candidate for surgery. Approximately 20% of potential candidates screened for LASIK are rejected based on pre-operative testing. Some of these individuals may be better served with another procedure, or the best option may be no surgery. In all instances decisions are based on what is best for your needs. Robbins Eye has some of the most sophisticated diagnostic equipment available anywhere in the country, from the Heidelberg HRT for evaluating glaucoma to the Oculus Pentacam for LASIK screening.
Our Culture
Every member of Robbins Eye is dedicated to providing excellent patient care. Although superior technology is a key ingredient to the successful preservation or restoration of vision, listening to the needs of the individual and compassion are vital components.
